typology: commercial office
status: design development, 2020
area: 12,000 sqft
conceived from the narrative of a ribbon band that meanders and wraps itself around four hanging drums, the design for b office tower lobby evolved through the understanding of limitations to existing space, condensing the idea into legible components.
throughout this project, the aim is to depart away from the extensive use of materials that are often associated with corporate office lobbies, and embrace the challenge of limiting number of materials. the interest comes through exploration of textural variations of materials in representing each components, striking a balance between a pared back fit-out with three-dimensional feature that clad over existing ceiling drop.
design gestures also adopted strategies such as optical refinement and visual plays to extract out the best qualities that the space could offer. the result is a space that stays crisp and legible, with functions clearly expressed through timeless forms.
